Three generations, one trade
Our business was started in 1909 by Carl Johanson Sr., who started a concrete and brick masonry business under the name Carl Johanson Construction Co. He laid brick and poured concrete foundations, sidewalks, driveways and patios for many homes throughout the north side of the city of Chicago.
Carl Johanson Jr., his son, then established the current company Carl Johanson & Son Construction Co Inc, and the company focused on concrete only and not masonry. That narrowing is still the whole business today. Nobody here lays brick.
In 1967, the company was incorporated and in 1985, Carl Johanson III joined the company and is now the owner and president. Our local, family-owned and operated business has over 100 years of experience. We are licensed, bonded and insured.
